Navigating without a mouse

The access key attribute is intended to provide keyboard shortcuts as an alternative form of navigation. This allows users with limited physical capabilities to navigate the organisation's website more easily.

This website uses the recommended UK Government access keys standard.

Access keys

To enable mouse keys

Windows 2000 and XP users
  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Select 'Accessibility Options'
  3. Select the 'Mouse' tab
  4. Select 'use MouseKeys'
Windows Vista users
  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Select 'Ease of Access'
  3. Select 'Change how your mouse works'
  4. Select 'Turn on mouse keys'
Mac users
  1. Choose 'System Preferences' from the 'Apple' menu
  2. Choose 'Universal Access' from the 'View' menu
  3. Click the 'Mouse' tab
  4. Click 'On', next to Mouse Keys

You will now be able to control the cursor/pointer using your numeric keypad

When completed this website will conform to Priority 3 (Triple-A) of the Web Accessibility Initiative's WCAG 1.0 guidelines. These guidelines exist to make web pages more accessible for people with disabilities.
